Innovation on the Move: Sweet Kraving Donuts

What began as a mobile donut truck has grown into an innovative breakfast business serving communities across South Louisiana.

Alycia Johnson, owner of Sweet Kraving Donuts, launched the business in 2019 after recognizing an opportunity to bring fresh, gourmet donuts directly to customers. As the region’s first donut delivery service and donut food truck of its kind, Sweet Kraving quickly gained a loyal following across the Tri-Parish area.

As the business expanded, Alycia worked with the LSBDC at Nicholls State University to strengthen her operations through training, consultations, and strategic planning support. In 2024, she was also selected for the Shell LiveWire Louisiana business accelerator, a program that provides entrepreneurs with access to knowledge, skills, networks, and resources to help their businesses grow and strengthen their communities. The LSBDC serves as a partner in the program, supporting participating entrepreneurs as they scale their operations.

Sweet Kraving has since evolved into a full-service mobile breakfast destination, serving donuts, coffee, beignets, lemonade, and breakfast favorites at plant sites, schools, and corporate events. Alycia also introduced the region’s first fresh donuts and coffee vending machines, combining convenience with high-quality products and innovative packaging that keeps items fresh for vending and nationwide shipping through online retail platforms, including Walmart.

Beyond business growth, Alycia remains deeply committed to her community. Sweet Kraving Donuts regularly supports local schools in St. James Parish and provides temporary employment opportunities for students, helping them gain real-world experience, teamwork skills, and confidence.

Today, Sweet Kraving Donuts continues to blend Southern flavors with modern convenience, demonstrating how innovation, strong partnerships, and community engagement can create lasting economic impact in rural Louisiana.
