May 6, 2026After Hurricane Ida, the owner of Apocalypse Sports saw an opportunity to expand, but knew the next step required financing and a strong business plan. When his bank asked for a professional plan to support the loan request, he turned to the LSBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University for guidance.
Working with the LSBDC team, he developed a comprehensive business plan that helped secure the financing needed to bring his vision to life. Within months, the expansion was approved, leading to the development of a 22,000-square-foot facility featuring a 14-lane indoor range, observation area, in-store BBQ station, and one of the largest selections of firearms and ammunition in the South.
The growth that followed has been remarkable. Apocalypse Sports expanded from 7 employees to 35, and the business now ranks among the top ten sellers on Gunbroker.com for the third consecutive year. Building on the knowledge gained through his LSBDC experience, the owner later developed another business plan independently—helping the company secure an additional $1.1 million in working capital to support continued growth.
Reflecting on the journey, the owner shared:
“The LSBDC helped us put together a solid, professional plan that made our expansion possible. Apocalypse Sports would not be where we are today without their help.”
