From Farmers Market Booth to Food Truck: Boba Stop
May 6, 2026Cole Mosely and his business partner launched their vending machine business in November 2023 with big ambitions and a drive to innovate. Within a year, they scaled to 22 machines offering drinks, snacks, frozen foods, and customizable vending solutions for businesses. Their rapid growth was impressive, but it also revealed operational inefficiencies that could slow their momentum. Recognizing the need for structure, the clients worked with LSBDC consultant, Chris Wright, to build a foundation for sustainable expansion.
Together, they tackled two critical challenges: the absence of documented processes and the need for smarter route planning. The consultant worked together with Cole and Grant to create a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), detailing every aspect of operations, from warehouse loading and machine servicing to money handling, troubleshooting, and vehicle safety. This resource became the cornerstone for consistent service and smooth onboarding of future employees.
To further enhance efficiency, the consultant introduced AI-powered tools to optimize delivery routes. Using these tools, they mapped machine locations, grouped stops strategically, and calculated time savings. This analysis not only streamlined operations but also helped determine when additional delivery capacity might be necessary as the business grows. By blending technology with practical planning, the team transformed a complex challenge into a clear, actionable strategy.
The impact of these resources resulted in systems and insights that allow the business to scale confidently. Through a collaborative effort, the owners worked with the LSBDC to implement documented processes, optimize delivery routes using AI tools, and create a clear roadmap for growth. This partnership combined practical expertise with innovative technology, turning rapid growth into a sustainable, long-term success story.
